"Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name
we entrust the authority of government."

Join us on the steps of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore on Wednesday September 21 at 6 pm as we read the names of all the American servicemen and women who have given their lives in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Diocese of Maryland supports the DREAM Act.

Mission Statement

The world, through the ages, has cried out for God's justice. The Church is called to bring to the world Christ's truth, compassion, and love, which is the very foundation of that justice. It is the duty and responsibility of every member of the Christian community to work for God's justice with those in authority when possible and oppose them when matters of injustice arise. ++William Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury, put it this way, "The Church must anounce Christian principles and point out where the existing social order at any time is in conflict with them. It must then pass on to Christian citizens, acting in their civic capacity, the task of re-shaping the exisitng order in closer conformity to the prinicples." (Christianity and Social Order)

The mission of both the National and Maryland Episcopal Public Policy Networks is to bring awareness of Church principles to the government and information about government policies to the Church. In this we give collective and effective voice to the Christian concern for just policies. Participating actively in this work enables us to respond to our baptismal covenant vow to strive for justice and peace for all people.

Read "The Decade of the Lost Children" Charles M Blow's column in the New York Times on August 6, 2011. Blow writes, "We risk the creation of an engorged generational underclass born of a culture that has less income equality and fewer prospects for mobility than the previous generation.
It’s hard to see how we emerge from this downturn and its tumult a stronger nation if we allow vast swatches of our children to be lost."

"Justice is simple, but the world is complicated,
so the application of justice contains a few intricacies."
